The Data Centre Team Leader is a key position in managing and providing support for our Client’s Data Centre cabling infrastructure, its server and network hardware environment and physical security controls.

Reporting to the Local Data Centre Manager, the Data Centre Team Leader will be site based and be responsible for the delivery of Moves, Adds and Changes (MAC) work and Business As Usual (BAU) works at a client Data Centre (In certain circumstance this may be multiple Data Centres and/or may include some Campus locations).

The role is focused on the coordination and management of a team of 4+ local DC operations engineers working on rotated 24/7 shifts, as well as assisting in remote management for the wider DC Ops staff in conjunction with the peer team lead. The Data Centre Team Leader assists with the planning and smooth implementation of the day-to-day activities for all DC Ops engineering works.

Working with the client, Service Delivery Manager and Data Centre Manager to improve the operational systems, processes, and procedures in support of enhanced service deliverables and management reporting.

What you’ll be doing as our Data Centre Team Leader:

Below is a non-exhaustive list of key responsibilities of both the DC TL and Operations Engineers. The Team Leader’s role is to ensure these elements are conducted properly in accordance with the processes and procedures defined by the Client and to aid or perform the tasks where necessary.

Device provisioning and change execution:

• Building equipment racks, copper & fibre patching, SFP module installations and complete hardware installations for new server deployments, ensuring adherence to documented procedures.
• Connectivity testing for all installations (end-device patching)

• Assist with all facets of build process including shipping and receiving, identification of incompatibility and work around solutions.

Candidates must aspire to achieve a minimum level accreditation of Cisco CCNP Routing & Switching (or other Enterprise vendor) and have demonstrable experience in technical design, configuration and fault finding.

Required Knowledge / Experience:

• Experience of Enterprise networking deployment across Routing, Switching, Wireless and Security hardware platforms.
• Good working understanding of Network Server builds to deliver DHCP/DNS/AD services across both physical and virtual machines.
• Appreciation of the Azure global cloud computing platform
• VRF/VLAN/IP Configuration
• PRTG configuration and monitoring experience 
• Firewall policies, access lists and rule sets creation and modification.
• Capable of converting high level network designs to low level network designs.
• Vendor licensing registration/generation.
• Maintains personal knowledge of vendor technology developments.
• Familiarisation with Cisco suite of networking products including Nexus, Catalyst, Meraki, DNA and Prime
• Essential minimum level accreditation of CCNP Routing & Switching.

• On-call standby rota to support 24x7 customers
• Evaluation of supported estate for End of Life and End of Service notifications
• Monitor and communicate technical bulletins for vendors especially around security.
• Support requirements for out of hours customer BAU activities including PPM and Black Building tests.
• Halo Service Desk configuration and monitoring
• Proactive regular review and update of networking credentials for the support base

Desirable 

• Understand third party IP applications/concepts i.e., BMS, Lighting Controls, CCTV etc.

Role Overview
We are looking to expand our pool of experienced IT, AV, and Network Cabling Engineers in Europe. This role involves attending various sites to handle a range of tasks, from minor hardware break-fixes, racking and stacking and structured cabling installations.

The work could take place within live commercial offices and data-centres, so engineers must be comfortable working in customer-facing settings and maintaining a high level of professional conduct.

Project Scope & Tasks:
The work is varied and assigned on an ad-hoc basis as and when required. Common tasks include:

• Standard IT Support: Hardware break-fixes and troubleshooting.
• Device Replacements: Replacing IT and AV equipment.
• Network Infrastructure: Rack and stack of network switches and hardware migrations.
• Cabling Works: Data cable installations, Cat6a terminations, and patching.
• WAP Services: Installations and migrations of Wireless Access Points.
• Site Surveys: Documenting requirements for future installations.

Requirements
To be considered for these opportunities, you must meet the following criteria:

• Local Residency: You must already reside within the country where the work is advertised. We are not looking for candidates who need to relocate for this role.
• Language: Ability to communicate in English is essential.
• Health & Safety: You must be familiar with basic Health & Safety practises.
• Professional Appearance: Engineers are required to wear dark, unbranded clothing and safety boots.

Tools Required:

• General: Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, combi drills, etc.) for break-fix tasks.
• Specialist: For cabling projects, you must have your own termination tools for Cat6a, cabling rods, cutters, labelling machine, modtap/ cable tester, and consumables (velcro/tape).
