The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Management:
- Take full ownership of structured cabling projects within large data centre builds, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Lead and motivate project teams, including internal staff and subcontractors.
Stakeholder Liaison & Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for structured cabling aspects, liaising extensively with main contractors, other on-site contractors, and end-clients.
- Facilitate effective communication channels to ensure seamless project coordination and issue resolution.
Financial Management:
- Manage project financials, including budget forecasting, cost control, variation management, and invoicing.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring project profitability.
Subcontractor Management:
- Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of structured cabling subcontractors.
- Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and quality standards.
Progress Tracking & Reporting:
- Implement robust systems for tracking project progress against milestones and KPIs.
- Prepare and present regular, comprehensive progress reports to internal and external stakeholders.
Technical Expertise:
- Provide expert guidance and oversight on all aspects of structured cabling, including copper, fibre, and specialist data/fibre cabling for a variety of services.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Quality Assurance:
- Implement and enforce stringent quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications and workmanship standards.
Risk Management:
- Proactively identify potential risks and challenges, developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
Commercial Acumen:
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness in all project decisions, identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation.
- Manage contractual agreements and ensure compliance.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Extensive Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of dedicated project management experience within structured cabling, specifically focused on large-scale data centre projects.
- Structured Cabling Expertise: A comprehensive and in-depth background in the design, installation, and testing of structured cabling systems (copper and fibre) for a variety of services within mission-critical environments.
- Data Centre Project Experience: Proven experience in managing structured cabling installations within large, complex data centre construction projects.
- Construction Project Experience: Demonstrable experience in managing projects within a construction site environment, understanding site logistics, health and safety regulations, and construction timelines.
- Commercial Background: Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in managing project financials, contracts, and commercial negotiations.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with main contractors, clients, and subcontractors.

Essential Requirements:
- To be able to demonstrate at least 5 years consistent experience of working in the structured cabling installation environment.
- Have at least 3 years experience of working in the construction industry.
- Have at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role and be able to demonstrate the ability to take a lead role on site between the cabling installation teams, other trade contractors, the client team and our own on site project team.
- To be well organised, self motivated and be a positive thinker/problem solver.
- Be able to communicate confidently with peers, clients and trade contract partners at all levels.
Hold at least one of the following qualifications:
- Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI)
- BICSI Installer Level 2
- BICSI Technician
- City & Guilds Communications Cabling & Networks (3667)
- Be SSSTS or SMSTS Certified
- Possess a clean criminal record
- Possess a CSCS or ECS skill card (not a green CSCS labourers card)
Duties will include
- To report to the Construction Manager or the CNS Project Manager
- To work in conjunction with the Construction Manager on site to support the appointed structured cabling specialist team(s) with the following:
- H&S Processes on site
- Access and egress onto site and to work areas
- Arranging site inductions and other site specific courses for the SCS specialist team.
- Support in organising & coordinating deliveries
- Tracking of project programme and reporting progress back to the internal project team
- To attend weekly “look ahead” meetings with partner cabling subcontractors and work to ensure their work progress is achieved through work areas being ready and available as required to meet their programme obligations.
- Review of all future work areas in advance and coordination with other trade contractors to ensure works areas are available for the subcontract cable teams.
- Issuing and tracking updated Installation drawings and clarification of any queries.
- Attendance at site/project meetings as required and coordinate any outputs from those meetings with your site team and/or with the Senior Management team.
- To track and where necessary deliver daily H&S briefings to the installation teams as and when required
- Report on a daily basis as to works completed and works outstanding from works schedules and construction phase programmes
- Confidently Liaise with other trades specialists on site to coordinate works as required.
- Oversee cable testing packages and lead on any client witness testing at the end of every works phase.
- Support the network team with the installation of active network hardware.
- Racking, stacking and patching as required to support the site/project commissioning programme.

- Be London based or willing to travel into Central London on a daily basis.
- Hold IPAF and or PASMA certificates

Package
- Permanent Salaried Position - £40,000-£45,000 per annum depending on experience
